JUNE 21, 2025 ALL WE ARE SAYING...
I try really hard not to go political here, but as I see us gearing up for another conflict in the Middle East, I have to ask if the clowns are really the best people to run this circus.
I'm working on an acoustic version of "In The New Old Days," from our debut, LIFTOFF. Once you get past the sci-fi, it seems pretty relevant these days. We'll preview that here soon, and you can check out the electric version in the music player. For now, here are the lyrics.
I heard a faded message from a future time
Coming to me along the broadcast line
I heard a voice from fifty years away (and he said)
"Remember how it was in 2024,
I'd give anything to go there once more
When life was simple, better than it is today
We never knew the good we had
Until we saw it all go bad
How did we ever let it get this way?
'Cause in the new old days, it was simple then
In the new old days, way back when
In the new old days, I wanna go back again
"We've had another dozen Wars Fought to End All War
The losers always coming back to settle the score
'Cause both sides knew that God was on their side.
With grand solutions, corporations came
The lenders and the lawyers gave us more of the same
Taking all they could grab, but never satisfied.
If only our leaders had reconsidered
Selling pieces of the planet to the highest bidder
Before they knew the price we'd have to pay
"As both the poles sank into the sea
They knew the end was coming, anybody could see
They planned their escape, they knew they had to try.
So the rockets were built, treasures were boarded
And tickets were sold to those who'd afford it
And we watched the ships climb into the sky ... high
"Now the cities are empty, the people gone
The movers and the makers have all moved on
Building kingdoms and riches on new worlds far away
And those of us who were left behind
Are wondering how we ever got so blind
To stand aside and watch the world decay
If we could travel through history
Remake everything the way it should be
Imagine how the world would be today"

APRIL 1, 2025 APRIL FOOL'S... YEAR?
Without getting overtly political about the state of national affairs in 2025, the whole thing has been pretty surreal lately. I feel like there's going to be a press conference at some point, and suddenly, everyone will pull off their rubber mask and reveal the entire cast of SNL has been pulling a joke on Washington for months.
One can certainly hope.
In the meantime, another new song, "Stupid or Evil," has come into being thanks to our nightly news. I'm hoping to play a solo version of it soon, and I'm hoping you'll agree with the message.
FEBRUARY 15, 2025 DANCING BY MYSELF
I haven't played solo in a long, LONG time. I've always been in group situations, whether it's playing my music, covers, duos, or even open mic nights. This month was a special experience for me to debut a few brandy-new tunes live in front of an audience. And by "special," I mean "scary as hell." But we got through it, and it felt great afterwards! The audiences have been absolutely great and supportive, and I can't thank them enough. Our recording process has stalled for a minute, so it was really fun to preview something for people and get their reaction to it.
Who knows? I've added about 10 new songs to the roster, so maybe we'll do it again!
JANUARY 5, 2025 MR BLUE SKY (and MR THREADS)
Happy 2025, all. We made it through the trials and challenges of 2024! Congratulations.
Lots of recent changes culturally, politically, and societally these days. And like it or not, we'll have to deal with them. One that impacts us directly is the upcoming ban of TikTok, a platform we've been posting on for about a year now. We'll see if Congress goes through with it, so details to follow. If you follow us exclusively there, check our links above for the other platforms.
But as one door (possibly) closes, we look for another open one. We're happy to announce we we're now on both Bluesky (@crosstalkclub.bsky.social) and Threads (@crosstalkclub). So you're on those platforms, please look us up!
This year was little rough on multiple levels, but we're really excited to get on track and an get even more music released very soon.
NOEVEMBER 30, 2024 BANDING TOGETHER
Two bits of Breaking News from the world of Crosstalk Club to talk about!
NEW MUSIC! Yes, you heard that right. This is a little special, and it's for a great cause. If you're into indie music in the NJ area, you probably know about Lazlo and his internet show, Blow Up Radio. Each year, he features a Banding Together benefit compilation of dozens of bands to raise money to research treatment of Spondylitis. This year has 30 bands donating their live sessions and unreleased tracks to the collection. Buy it on the BandCamp page, and the proceeds go to the Spondylitis Association of America. Our track is "I'm Not Angry," which isn't officially released, so for the moment is a Banding Together exclusive. So please chip in if you can!
Next, we've got a shoutout to Alan Lulu on TikTok, who goes by "A Real Lulu." Big thanks for giving our album a spin, some really nice kudos, and playing “Another Love Song” on his post. Alan’s an encyclopedia of knowledge about the last 4 decades of powerpop bands, he’s definitely worth the follow if you’re on TikTok, and we truly appreciate the mention.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2024 BACK IN THE NEW TUNE GROOVE
Man, where does the time go? This site's been a little out of the loop as of late, and it's time to fix that. We've been on the usual social media pages, but it's time to update our platform that has no connection to Musk, Zuckerberg, or a Chinese corporation.
If you're coming into our story fresh, maybe start at the Archives to see our story so far.
Let's buck the tradition of holding the big news for last, and tell you we are releasing new music soon. We've got several states between our band members now, so that's slowed the process a bit! SECOND STAGE is getting completed now, and I'm hoping the singles will start rolling soon. This will be a six-song EP, followed by another EP, THIRD ROCK, will follow early next year. We'll be posting a track list and some previews as soon as their ready. I'm really proud of this batch of songs, and can't wait to share them with you.
Next, if you happen to be local to the New Jersey Shore area, I (Dan) am planning a couple of solo shows to preview the new tunes. I'm hoping to bring some guest players for one of these too. Details and date to be announced.
Next, by request (believe it or not)... merch! TV shirts, stickers, and other assorted C/C -tagged paraphernalia will be available soon. We'll post examples on the socials soon, and set up the online store here on the site.
You can still request us on some of our favorite radio stations, both terrestrial and online, such as Lonely Oak Radio, WPRB, and WRAT.
There's more to come, but I've taken enough time on your eyeballs for now.
